Who is Shanell?
Shanell West is an actor and writer from the Bronx, NY. She is a recent graduate from University at Albany where she studied theatre with a concentration in acting. At UA she has performed in numerous plays like Clyde's as Letitia, The Piano Lesson as Bernice, Twelfth Night as Valentina, and a world premiere of Josephine in the leading role of Virtue.
She is an alumnus of the NYU Tisch Future Theatre Artists program where she trained in voice, movement, and acting. As well as the Statement Arts: Start Dreaming program. She has attended Lehman College’s Borough Arts Festival, and performed in the Upright Citizens Brigade’s Improv Festival twice.
Shanell is very passionate about community and is very grateful for the opportunities she has been given. She is very attentive to community outreach and has done numerous performances all over the Bronx. In places such as elementary schools, senior care centers, recreational facilities, and rehabs. When she is not acting, you can find her taking pictures, drawing, or picking up a new random game to try.
